Buckthorn

Sea-buckthorn berries are multipurposed, edible and nutritious, though very acidic and astringent, unpleasant to eat raw, unless 'bletted' (frosted to reduce the astringency) and/or mixed as a juice with sweeter substances such as apple or grape juice. Nutrient and phytochemical constituents of sea-buckthorn berries have potential value as antioxidants that may affect inflammatory disorders, cancer or other diseases.

Elsen TasarKhai Sand Dunes in Mongolia

The main road separates Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune into two parts, Mongol Els on the south and Khugnu Tarnyn Els on the north. Elsen Tasarkhai sand is sodden under its surface, so shrubberies such as willow, elm and dogwood, grow in the area. There are many tourist camps around Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes. Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes is surrounded by Mount Khugnu Khan on the north and Mount Ikh Mongol on the south.

Tsambagarav Mountain - Green Lake

Tsambagarav Mountain at 4208 M (13,737 ft) on the border of Bayan-Olgii and Hovd Aimags towers over the 110,960 hectares of Tsambagarav Uul National Park. The park is known for its stunning vistas and diverse wildlife. The park contains many glaciers, rocky gorges, glacial lakes, and a 7 meter waterfall, in addition to deer stones , balbal (standing stones), and Kazakh and Uriankhai nomads. Many rare and endangered species can be found including the Argali sheep, Ibex, Snow Leopard, Rock Ptarmigan and Altai Snowcock. Tsambagarav Mountain and the smaller Tsast Uul at 4193 M both require crampons and ropes, though surrounding peaks can be hiked.

Tsagaan Suvarga - White Stupa

Tsagaan Suvarga(White Stupa) is located in Ulziit Soum, Dundgobi aimag. The name Tsagaan Suvarga(White Stupa)is given by local people to the impressive and legendary cliff which is eroded by natural phenomenon. Having 10 million years history, the cliff indicates different times by its colored layers. Tsagaan Suvarga(White Stupa)is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city.

Otgontenger Mountain

One of the Mongolian most sacred mountains, Otgon Tenger Uul Mountain(3905m) is spiritual abode of the gods and an important place of pilgrimage for many Mongolians. Otgontenger Mountain, located about 60km east Uliastai is the highest park in the Khangai nuruu and is now part of the 95.510 hectare Otgon Tenger strictly protected area. Normal park fees of T3000 per person apply.
